Hai-Yen is a seasoned outdoor racer/ultramarathoner and a much sought after corporate trainer and external Sports and Outdoor Education lecturer for Monash University. Hai-Yen runs corporate training programmes in the region and is a consultant for adventure skills workshops as well as International outdoor races such as the successful Action Asia Race in 2004 supported by Singapore Tourism Board. She is the founder of the first hearing-impaired Dragonboat Racing team in Singapore where she heads under the community wing of her company Hi-Raleigh. She is also one of the four directors for Women Make a Difference festival which was created to celebrate women's role in society through the arts and sports. A festival created to raise awareness of sex trafficking on women and children (www.womenmakeadifference.org). On 25th September, Hai-Yen completed her first 250km desert race across Sahara to raise $50,000 for Caregiver Counselling and Welfare Association (www.ccwa.org.sg).

Hai-Yen is also an aerobics /aqua aerobics instructress, an avid photographer, a magazine model, a freelance cartoonist/artist trained in the prestigious Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Singapore. She has illustrated and published 2 childrens' books, "Iron Papa" and a poetry book for children by Edwin Thumboo. Her many creative talents has been discovered and developed in window display and stage designs and mural paintings in Singapore, HongKong and Australia.

One of Hai-Yen's passion for the outdoors was rooted back in 1995 when she was the first Singaporean to embark on a 3 months expedition as a Raleigh International venturer working on adventure/scientific /
conservation projects in Belize in Central America. She has since represented Raleigh Singapore in
mountain marathon races and adventure races, ultramarathon races in Taiwan , Hong Kong and Egypt.

In 2001, Hai-Yen was also a recipient of the prestigious Lee Foundation scholarship award to pursue her masters in outdoor education in Brisbane. The plan was put on hold when but she chose life experiences in overseas stints as a marine auditor in Vanuatu as well as an Outward bound Instructor in Hong Kong.
